06 October 2009

Submitted by: Laurie Bernard

Carole Marblestein took over as President of the North West London Chamber. The Annual General Meeting was held at Brent Town Hall. Eric Diamond retired after two years in office and was thanked for all his hard work and dedication by new President Carole.
Members and guests were lucky enough to hear three different views of business. Firstly Brent Council Leader, Paul Lebor reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to local enterprises especially “the army of small businesses”. The Borough Commander for Harrow, Dar Babu explained how the police interact with businesses to reduce crime. He urged all to become involved in their Safer Neighbourhood Schemes.
Lastly motivational speaker Kush Shukla MD of ARIVU informed the meeting how to make their businesses can climb to greater heights. His presentation was entitled “How to Boost Your Business in Any Economy”. He explained the need to move back from being savers to spenders. This would move money around the economy increasing bottom-line profits. He recommended that businesses take on staff from the pool of young labour. These bright individuals will bring fresh ideas and skills to businesses.
Chamber Director, Laurie Bernard, reports the successful evening concluded with enthusiastic networking and a delightful buffet.
